Just For Fun

Point to Point has a new year long activity for 2026 – it’s Just For Fun (JFF)!

Each month, we’ll be stitching a Holiday Light Bulb. You can stitch the bulbs any size you’d like. You can use any ground material you’d like (canvas, plastic canvas, Aida, linen, etc.). You can use any fibers you’d like. You can use any pattern or stitch you’d like. You can stitch as many or as few bulbs as you’d like. It’s all up to you! (but see the bottom of this page for some suggestions).

At each monthly General Meeting, you can show the bulb you’ve just completed stitching (it need not be finished). If you’ve stitched a bulb, you’ll get a ticket. The ticket can be used for that month’s opportunity prize, or — you can save up your tickets for a Grand Prize which will be awarded in January of 2027.

If you’re not a local member, you can still easily participate – just send in a picture of your completely stitched bulb to “PointToPointANG@gmail.com” at the end of each month. We’ll keep your tickets here in Huntington Beach and you’ll be entered for the grand prize.

If you’d like, you can contact our Program Chair, Gail Wachob, who can mail you a copy of an outline of a Holiday Light Bulb. Or, you can download a copy of a bulb outline from the Rainbow Gallery website’s free pattern page. The download includes Susan Portra stitch guides for twelve different bulb patterns (called “Sally’s Christmas Lights”) using Rainbow Gallery fibers. link

Gail has started stitching her bulbs on plastic canvas. Using the completed bulbs, she’ll be making garlands for each of her daughters. Gail’s first bulbs are at the top of the page. Also, when the bulb stitch guides were first released, one of our members stitched each one on 18 count canvas. The completed bulbs were finished and attached to gold cording – a beautiful garland used for many holiday seasons.
